Step-by-Step Guide – Partitions

Fermacell can be installed on either timber or steel studs, providing superior fire, acoustic and impact performance.

If you are using timber for the subframe, you will need (75 mm x 50 mm) P.S.E. well seasoned timber for both the vertical studwork and the head and floor track. An 89 mm x 38 mm studs may be used, but only with the adhesive or tapered edge jointing system. The fixing method for the timber studs is the same as with plasterboard with the inclusion of a 5 mm expansion gap for the Fermacell Boards at the beginning and end of the partition.

If you are using a steel subframe, a minimum 50 mm fixing face and a 0.6 mm gauge DIN standard stud must be used, with associated head and floor track to suit.
